I purchased this engine from the Tyler family from Moore, Montana in the summer of 2008. The engine had been in the Tyler family since 1953. It was last steamed in 1956 and sat at Tyler ranch since that time. A friend of mine called to tell me that the engine was for sale in March of 2008. After several phone calls with Mike Tyler we decided to go have a look in April. I immediately fell in love with the engine. I made my offer on the engine in May which was subsequently accepted in July. In August the engine was hauled to Heritage Park of North Iowa's show grounds in Forest City, IA where it resided until January 2, 2009. At that time the engine was moved to my residence and the restoration process was started the next day.
I started a thread on SmokStak on the restoration as well.
